Episode 74 – Trump Trips out, ‘membering Marvin Minsky

This week we start off blasting Michigan (North until you smell it East until you step in it) for their drinking water. But quickly start talking about a man who wants to be the the leader of the most powerful army on the planet, yet runs in terror of facing down a blonde woman with a teleprompter. Not really instilling the brothers with confidence there Trump.

Next the brothers move on to remembering Marvin Minsky, and Tech talks about while he doesn’t buy into Transhumanism he had the utmost respect for Minsky and his philosophies.

This lead to the brothers talking about talking with people that they disagree with but respect and how that can be a rewarding experience.

Gun Sully comes up with a plan for gun control, Tech looks into why the HRC backed HRC.

For some reason the Human Rights Campaign backed Hilary Rodham Clinton, which is odd since Sanders has a stellar human rights record by their own metric. Tech Sully looked outside his normal sources of information for opinions on that. Gun Sully has outlined a plan for using technology to track and apprehend criminals.

The State of the Podcast, err I mean Union

The brothers were in good spirits and took a bit to get to the news, but when they did the gloves came off. They covered the State of the Union, the Trans Pacific Partnership and the reports of violence in Germany.

The fun stuff, what they’d do if they won the powerball:

Podcast – We solve the Oregon issue, sing firework to Kim Jong Un and talk about guns

We cover the Oregon standoff and and the end of the podcast Tech has an impromptu interview with a friend of Gun’s. The interview gets off to a bit of a rocky start because Tech didn’t know anyone was going to be calling, and we’re reasonably sure the interviewee can’t tell them apart!

Schrödinger’s Gun Free Zone

There’s been a big focus on gun control and ways to stop gun crime recently.  One of the 1st common sense Gun Control laws I see as needed are rules against posting signs stating “Gun Free Zone” in areas where absolutely no entry control protocols and routine screenings are in place.

Many of the “Mass shootings” that Pres. Obama talks about so much and has even been seen crying over have taken place in “Gun Free” zones.  If a building manager posts such a sign without implementing intense security measures, they provide the patrons with a false sense of security.  The only way one should legally be aloud to declare an area a GFZ is if they have an armed officer or officers posted at entrances with a metal detector.

If areas truly want to prevent people from entering their theaters with guns, they need to logically approach the subject because a sign that says something is not a magical talisman that wards off danger.  Instead of magic, someone walking out of a GFZ movie theater alive is merely the chance survival of Schrödinger’s cat, the only difference is Schrödinger wouldn’t have been so presumptive to mark the box “Alive Cat Zone.”

So, if you are to continue you posting GFZ signs you will need to amend it to state:  “This is simultaneously an armed area and a gun free zone until you either survive or are shot.” Seem ridiculous?  So are fake Gun Free Zones.

In the meantime, I’m not going to go to work, I’m just going to fasten a “Rent Free Zone” sign on my door.  I’m sure my leasing office will understand the same way mass shooters understood GFZ signs.what makes a zone gun free

Don’t take citizen’s rights, plus we save the world – again

The brothers talk about the POTUS and candidates ganging up on citizen rights, and how they’re getting history wrong in the process and could well end up on the wrong side of history.

The call drops, and after the conversation starts up again they cover moronic statements by both the GOP and Democrat front runners about the Internet. Then they turn their attention to making the world better by driving a bus through the desert.
